JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The House of Representatives has confirmed Deputy Finance Minister Anggito Abimanyu as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation for the 2025–2030 period. The decision, taken by Commission XI in Jakarta on Monday, Sept 22, 2025, comes as Anggito replaces Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who now serves as Finance Minister.
Commission XI Chairman Mukhamad Misbakhun said the decision was made through deliberation and consensus, with the process conducted openly. “Anggito Abimanyu has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners, Farid Azhar Nasution as Deputy Chairman, Doddy Zulverdi as member for bank guarantee and resolution, and Ferdinand Dwikoraja Purba as member for insurance guarantee,” Misbakhun told reporters after the fit and proper test at the House complex.
He stressed that the confirmation was in line with House procedures and reflected transparency and accountability. “The consideration was thorough, but in the end, it was clear. Everyone knows Mr. Anggito’s reputation and capacity,” he said.
Born in Bogor on Feb 19, 1963, Anggito studied economics at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta from 1980 to 1985 before completing his master’s (1988–1990) and doctorate (1990–1994) in economics at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. In 2025, he was inaugurated as Professor of Economics at Gadjah Mada University.
His career began in 1985 as a research assistant at the Economic Research Institute before he moved on to roles at the Center for Policy Studies Indoconsult Jakarta, the World Bank in Washington, and as commissioner at Bank Lippo and PT Telkom.

In government, he headed the Fiscal Policy Agency from 2004 to 2010, directed Hajj and Umrah services at the Ministry of Religious Affairs from 2012 to 2014, and later served as Chief Economist of Bank Rakyat Indonesia and Commissioner of BRI Syariah from 2014 to 2017. He also led the Hajj Financial Management Agency between 2017 and 2022 before returning to government as Deputy Finance Minister in 2024.
Beyond government, Anggito has been active in professional and academic organizations, including serving as Secretary General of the Indonesian Economic Scholars Association (ISEI) from 2012 to 2015, Head of Organization at ISEI from 2018 to 2024, and currently as Vice Chairman of ISEI. He is also Vice Chairman of the Expert Council of the Indonesian Association of Islamic Economists (MES) and the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI).
In professional certification, he has completed qualifications in Islamic finance, governance, risk, compliance, and data analytics, underscoring his expertise in financial management and regulation.
Anggito said his decision to accept the nomination was both a personal ambition and an institutional mandate. “My background is in economics and Islamic finance. Public finance has been my core focus, but I have always had a deep interest in strengthening the financial sector. This is not unfamiliar territory for me,” he told lawmakers during the fit and proper test.
He added that the decision was also encouraged by Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. “Minister Purbaya said he needed someone capable of pushing fiscal and financial reforms. So yes, there is personal motivation, but there is also institutional assignment. As a civil servant and cabinet member, I am ready to relinquish my current post as Deputy Finance Minister,” he said.
President Prabowo Subianto had appointed Anggito as Deputy Finance Minister in the Merah Putih Cabinet on Oct 21, 2024. With his new role, he will lead the Deposit Insurance Corporation through major policy challenges, including the scheduled rollout of insurance policy guarantees in 2028.
Finance Minister Purbaya publicly endorsed his successor. “Yes, he is moving to LPS as chairman. I support him fully,” Purbaya said during a press conference on the September edition of the state budget briefing in Jakarta.
