LONDON, Investortrust.id — British Chamber of Commerce Indonesia and Kamar Dagang dan Industri Indonesia strengthen UK–Indonesia economic ties on Friday, Jan 23, 2026 in London through the UK–Indonesia Business and Investment Forum to advance bilateral investment and deepen private-sector engagement. The forum supports implementation of the Strategic Partnership and the Economic Growth Partnership to accelerate long-term cross-sector collaboration.
The forum, held on Tuesday, Jan 20, 2026 at Lancaster House, was led by Donny Donosepoetro OBE, Chairman of the Advisory Board of BritCham Indonesia, and attended by member companies alongside senior policymakers.
Prabowo Subianto and David Lammy attended the meeting, underscoring strong political backing for deeper bilateral economic cooperation driven by the private sector.
Multinational BritCham Indonesia members participating included Standard Chartered, HSBC, bp, Babcock, Airbus, Mott MacDonald, Arup, and GE Vernova, alongside representatives from Ellips, Thales UK, and BAE Systems.
From Indonesia, the business delegation was represented by Kadin Indonesia and leading national companies such as Danantara, Bumi Resources, Medco, Emtek, APINDO, Lippo Group, Sampoerna, Djarum, and Sinarmas, reflecting broad private-sector interest in long-term collaboration.
During the forum, President Prabowo, accompanied by members of the Red and White Cabinet, held an interactive dialogue with business leaders and addressed questions on investment prospects, regulatory direction, and key sectoral priorities.
Donny Donosepoetro OBE said the Joint Statement between BritCham Indonesia and Kadin Indonesia to support the Economic Growth Partnership and establish the inaugural UK–Indonesia High-Level Business Council reflected strong confidence among UK businesses in Indonesia’s economy.
Ahead of the forum, BritCham Indonesia and Kadin Indonesia signed the Joint Statement on Sunday, Jan 19, 2026, reaffirming commitment to the Strategic Partnership and the Economic Growth Partnership.
BritCham Indonesia Chairman Ian Betts said the Economic Growth Partnership strengthened cooperation frameworks in trade, investment, and regulation while signaling a shared commitment to a transparent and stable business climate.
Kadin Indonesia Chairman Anindya Bakrie welcomed the strengthened partnership and said Indonesian businesses were ready to translate the momentum into concrete cooperation supporting national economic growth.
Bilateral trade between the UK and Indonesia reached $2.78 billion in 2024, while UK investment realization in Indonesia amounted to $402.6 million through the third quarter of 2025, highlighting the scale of untapped potential.
The Economic Growth Partnership was signed by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and UK Secretary of State for Business and Trade Peter Kyle, and witnessed by UK Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste Dominic Jermey and Indonesian Ambassador to the UK Desra Percaya.
