JAKARTA, investortrust.id — Business leaders from Indonesia and Qatar have committed to deepening bilateral ties through strategic cooperation in five key sectors, following a high-level forum in Doha on Sunday, April 13, 2025. The Qatar-Indonesia CEO Forum brought together top officials and private sector players from both countries to chart a course for future collaboration in energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and technology.
The forum was organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kadin Indonesia, and attended by President Prabowo Subianto, alongside several senior ministers including Investment Minister and Honorary Chair of Kadin Indonesia Rosan P Roeslani, Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait, Culture Minister Fadli Zon, and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, Energy, and Housing Hashim S Djojohadikusumo, who also chairs Kadin’s advisory board.
Representing the host country was the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, QCCI, led by Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed Al-Thani, along with Qatari ministers and a business delegation.
“Alhamdulillah, the Indonesia-Qatar CEO Forum concluded successfully. President Prabowo was present at the start, and we engaged in meaningful dialogue with the leadership of QCCI and other partners,” said Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia.
Bakrie, who is commonly known as Anin, said the two sides focused on five strategic pillars: “Energy, where Qatar is a global leader in gas; infrastructure, spanning from steel to housing; healthcare; education; and technology, including fintech.”
He underscored the need for private sector follow-up, noting that Kadin is committed not only to accompanying government missions but also ensuring benefits are felt by businesses across provinces, districts, and cities.
“This is an example of how Kadin does more than just accompany government visits. We ensure that our members, including local chambers, can feel the real impact of these partnerships,” he said.
Anin pointed to the success of Indosat Ooredoo—a major Qatari investment in Indonesia’s telecommunications sector that has since expanded into artificial intelligence—as a benchmark for future cooperation.
“Qatar holds enormous potential. Indosat Ooredoo stands as a shining example of a successful investment, evolving from telecom into AI,” he added.
To ensure the forum's outcomes lead to real progress, both sides agreed to form five working groups, each aligned with the strategic sectors discussed. The working groups will be coordinated by Bernardino M Vega, Vice Chairman for International Relations at Kadin Indonesia.
Anin expressed hope that the working groups would meet at least once a year, alternating between Jakarta and Doha. “One of the key takeaways was the formation of these working groups. Dino Vega will coordinate to ensure we meet regularly—once in Qatar, once in Jakarta,” he said.
The Qatar-Indonesia CEO Forum, Anin added, is a reflection of the two countries’ commitment to advancing their strategic partnership through active dialogue and collaboration between business communities, investors, and policymakers.
