JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia), Anindya Novyan Bakrie, has called food security a vital prerequisite for economic strength and national resilience, stressing the importance of collaboration between government and the private sector.
“Without food security, there will be no economic resilience, and without economic resilience, national resilience is difficult to achieve,” Anindya said during a public dialogue on Friday titled “The Role of the Private Sector in Realizing Food Security,” held at the Kadin Tower in Jakarta.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan and Head of the National Food Agency (BPN) Arief Prasetyo. Anindya emphasized that Kadin Indonesia is ready to work closely with the government in achieving food security and self-sufficiency.
Private Sector Mobilization for National Goals
Anindya noted that food security efforts should not only aim to ensure national supply resilience but also serve as an engine of inclusive economic development.
“Kadin’s support is not only about achieving self-sufficiency, but also about invigorating local economies across districts and cities throughout Indonesia,” he said, adding that food sector initiatives could play a central role in realizing President Prabowo Subianto’s policy agenda.
While Kadin traditionally focuses on industry and trade, Anindya emphasized that food security is now a key concern for the organization, particularly in the context of long-term sustainability.
“For us, this cooperation with Minister Zulkifli Hasan and his team is an honor. What matters most is the shared spirit behind it,” he said.
Zulkifli Hasan: Government Cannot Work Alone
Also speaking at the event, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, known as Zulhas, reiterated the need for joint efforts between government and the private sector. “The government cannot do this alone,” he said.
According to Zulhas, President Prabowo’s administration has set ambitious targets, including food self-sufficiency, energy security, and downstream industrialization. These goals, he stressed, demand broad participation from the business community.
“We must do this together,” Zulhas said. “Kadin is well-equipped to assist, and we invite them to play a strategic role in achieving food and energy independence.”
