BYD Takes 54 Percent of Indonesias EV Market as National Adoption Accelerates

TANGERANG, Investortrust.id — BYD Motor Indonesia secures 54 percent of Indonesias electric vehicle market on Friday, Nov 21, 2025 in Tangerang as national EV penetration reaches 11 percent, a surge that positions the brand as a central force behind the countrys automotive transition.
PT BYD Motor Indonesia introduced its lineup at the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week 2025, the first full showing of the companys expanding portfolio.
Gaikindo data showed that BYDs ATTO 1 model led national EV sales in October 2025, while the company deepened its push to make Indonesia a priority growth market.
“We extend our deep appreciation to consumers, industry partners and the wider automotive community for the trust that continues to grow and becomes the foundation of our achievements this year,” Operation Director Nathan Sun said at GJAW 2025.
Sun added that the company aimed to reinforce its leadership in green mobility across Indonesia, stating, “BYD is the number one EV in Indonesia and a significant contributor to the national automotive industrys growth.”
Gaikindo statistics up to October 2025 showed the ATTO 1 on top with 9,496 units sold, followed by the M6 with 9,359 units and the Sealion 07 with 7,461 units.
Public education programs such as national test drives and the BYD Goes to Campus initiative supported wider consumer understanding of the brands battery and EV technology. Industry awards also strengthened BYDs position among Indonesian EV buyers.
Globally, BYD maintained its status as the strongest combined BEV and PHEV player for three consecutive years, booking 14.2 million cumulative sales through October 2025 and expanding its presence to 117 countries.
The companys global innovation engine relied on a workforce of more than 122,000 R and D specialists and 65,000 patents. BYD also unveiled its new Megawatt Charging system at GJAW 2025, integrating Super E-Platform architecture to deliver faster long-distance charging.
For the 2025 showcase, BYD presented 10 units from six EV models, including the ATTO 1, ATTO 3, Dolphin, Seal, Sealion 7 and the M6 electric MPV, reaffirming its commitment to tailored mobility solutions for Indonesian consumers.
