JAKARTA, Investortust.id – Indonesia and the United States signed trade agreements worth US$34 billion (Rp 552 trillion) to deepen cooperation in energy and agriculture and support job creation and technology transfer.
Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said in a statement that Indonesia’s business community had committed to purchase premium American products in those strategic sectors during high-level meetings held in Washington, DC.
Officials from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Indonesian Embassy in Washington convened with U.S. counterparts on Monday, Jul 7, 2025, to finalize a series of memoranda of understanding under the framework of bilateral commercial cooperation.
Industry heavyweights such as PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas refiner, joined the discussions alongside the Indonesian Textile Association and PT Busana Apparel Group, a leading garment manufacturer focused on export markets.
Agricultural representation came from FKS Group and Sorini Agro Asia Corporindo, both members of the Indonesian Corn Producers Association, and the Association of Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers, which inked agreements with US Wheat Associates to secure future flour supply.
Strategic MoUs Chart New Opportunities
The meetings produced memoranda between Sorini Agro Asia Corporindo and Cargill for corn purchases; FKS Group and Zen-Noh Grain Corp for soybeans and soybean meal; and PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and U.S. energy majors ExxonMobil, Chevron, and KDT Global Resource for refined product collaboration.
Deputy Chief of Mission Sade Bimantara of the Indonesian Embassy in Washington said the partnerships were expected to create thousands of quality jobs, bolster micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, and facilitate technology exchange between both countries.
