JAKARTA, investortrust.id – President Prabowo Subianto has welcomed the public and national figures to a large-scale Idulfitri 2025 open house at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan with a strong message of unity, forgiveness, and togetherness. The celebration draws thousands of attendees from all walks of life, symbolizing a renewed commitment to inclusivity and social harmony in Indonesia.
Held at the Istana Merdeka, the official residence of the president, the open house was attended by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, government ministers and deputy ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, foreign ambassadors, and prominent business leaders. It is the first major post-Ramadan gathering under President Prabowo’s administration.
The open house also featured broad participation from the general public, including senior citizens, people with disabilities, and gig economy workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers—known locally as "ojol."
“After a full month of fasting, we now celebrate victory,” said President Prabowo. “Idulfitri is a sacred moment to forgive, strengthen bonds, and reaffirm our commitment to being better individuals—more patient and more compassionate.”
Unity Among Leaders
The open house served as a platform for political and civic leaders to promote solidarity. Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla encouraged Indonesians to use the occasion to build bridges across differences.
“Let’s strengthen our ties and unite to advance the nation,” said Kalla. “This is a joyful moment to share advice and forgiveness.”
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto emphasized the importance of familial bonds among leaders and citizens.
“This event isn’t just about tradition. It’s a powerful example of how our nation’s leadership can foster a spirit of familial unity with society,” said Yuliarto.
Similarly, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, popularly known as Cak Imin, described Idulfitri as a spiritual reset for national improvement.
“It’s like restarting from zero—an opportunity to be better than we were last year,” he said.
People’s Consultative Assembly Speaker Ahmad Muzani echoed the sentiment, calling the gathering a tradition that strengthens national cohesion.
“This is a beautiful tradition where citizens, ministers, and leaders come together in a celebration of shared identity and mutual respect.”
Public Participation Highlights Social Inclusion
Earlier in the morning, thousands of citizens gathered outside the State Secretariat entrance, waiting patiently to greet their president. Among them were elderly citizens, persons with disabilities, and online motorcycle taxi drivers.
One driver, Sudianto, age 53, traveled from Kemang in South Jakarta.
“We hope this moment strengthens the connection between us and the government,” said Sudianto. “We’re part of the transport and logistics ecosystem, and we’re ready to work with the government.”
Another driver, Iwan, who attended with his child, expressed hope for better government support for gig workers.
“Please, don’t let our holiday bonus stay at Rp 50,000. We hope President Prabowo hears us,” he said.
Despite long waits, the atmosphere remained celebratory. Many were eager to shake hands or take selfies with the president, who greeted them in a gold traditional outfit and black cap. Prabowo not only shook hands with adults but also leaned in and kissed children on the forehead, a cultural gesture of affection and respect.
Morning Prayer at Istiqlal Mosque
Before the open house, President Prabowo, Vice President Gibran, and members of the cabinet performed Idulfitri prayers at Jakarta’s Istiqlal Mosque—Southeast Asia’s largest mosque.
Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto noted that the essence of Idulfitri lies in shared resolve.
“Togetherness is key as we face major challenges ahead. May the spirit of Ramadan strengthen both our spiritual and social resilience,” Bima said.
Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono wished the nation peace and prosperity.
“May this sacred day bring happiness and blessings to us all,” said Agus, the son of former President Yudhoyono.
A Day of Reflection and National Pride
As citizens gathered under large white tents near the palace gardens, staff guided them through security and logistics. Despite the crowds, orderliness and warmth defined the event.
The open house underscored Prabowo’s intent to lead a government that is not only accessible but responsive to the voices of its people. By embracing both elite dignitaries and everyday citizens, the event signaled a democratic ethos grounded in empathy and shared tradition.
