JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works targets the completion of major multi-year projects in the new capital Nusantara in East Kalimantan by December 2025, with the Vice Presidential Palace, the State Mosque, and the Sepaku-Semoi water supply system among top priorities.
Director General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works Dewi Chomistriana said the accelerated schedule follows direct instructions from Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo.
“All multi-year contracts in Nusantara that are handled by Human Settlements must be completed by December 2025 in line with the Minister’s direction,” Dewi said on Monday, Sept 8, 2025, at the Jakarta Police pedestrian bridge.
The remaining projects under this schedule include the completion of the State Mosque, the Sepaku-Semoi drinking water supply system, and the Vice Presidential Palace. The ministry has allocated Rp 1.7 trillion, equal to $105 million, for the Vice Presidential Palace, Rp 2.1 trillion, equal to $130 million, for the Sepaku-Semoi water system, and Rp 940 billion, equal to $58 million, for the State Mosque.

Dewi explained that starting in 2026, the Nusantara Capital City Authority, known as OIKN, will assume responsibility for project management, except for certain packages that will remain with the Human Settlements Directorate General, such as the wastewater treatment plant.
“The IPAL project will continue under our supervision because the process cannot be cut off in December 2025,” she added.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Diana Kusumastuti earlier noted that not all multi-year contracts in Nusantara will be finished by 2025. “Some projects will still need time, but we expect the absolute deadline to be 2026,” she said in a separate statement.
Meanwhile, the ministry reaffirmed its commitment to completing these strategic projects. Triono Junoasmoro, Expert Staff for Inter-Agency Relations at the Ministry of Public Works, emphasized this during a site visit with Commission V of the House of Representatives in late July.
“We came in full force, bringing teams from Water Resources, Highways, Human Settlements, Strategic Infrastructure, and the Inspectorate General. This shows our seriousness in building Nusantara,” Triono, also known as Yongki, told reporters.
