Vice Presidential Secretariat Denies Link to Fatal Sukabumi Collision
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – The Secretariat of the Vice President has clarified that it is not connected to a fatal accident in Sukabumi, West Java, involving a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado bearing a Vice Presidential Secretariat sticker.
The crash, which occurred on Thursday night, January 9, 2025, claimed the lives of two students on Jalan Jalur Lingkar Selatan in Sukakarya Subdistrict, Warudoyong District.
In a statement released Sunday, January 12, 2025, the secretariat firmly denied any ties to the vehicle, its owner, or its driver.
“The black Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with license plate B 1668 UR involved in the accident is not an official vehicle of the Vice Presidential Secretariat. Likewise, the owner and driver of the vehicle are not employees or officials of the Secretariat,” the statement read.
The secretariat also clarified that the sticker displayed on the vehicle was not an official emblem issued by the institution, further distancing itself from the incident.
“The sticker is not an official designation and has no connection to the institution,” it added.
The secretariat expressed its condolences to the victims' families and stressed the importance of resolving the matter through legal channels.
“This clarification is issued to address and correct misinformation circulating in the public sphere,” it concluded.
The collision occurred when the Land Cruiser Prado collided with a Yamaha Mio motorcycle carrying three students—HD (18), IB (15), and MRM (15). Tragically, HD and IB lost their lives in the crash, while MRM survived. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
