JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto held a special meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his short working trip to Beijing on Wednesday, Sept 3, 2025.
Teddy said the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance, which was attended by 26 world leaders.
“This meeting has been one of President Prabowo’s key agendas to strengthen strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Russia,” Teddy said in a written statement.
Focus on Economic and Investment Ties
According to Teddy, Prabowo used the opportunity not only to attend the anniversary parade at Tiananmen Square but also to meet directly with both President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“In addition to attending the event, President Prabowo held separate bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin to follow up and secure ongoing economic investments,” he said.
Teddy emphasized that the discussions with Putin were warm and constructive, with both leaders reaffirming their commitment to deepen cooperation across trade, energy, infrastructure, and other strategic sectors.

Tight Schedule and Quick Return
Teddy also highlighted that Prabowo’s working trip to Beijing was deliberately short. After completing his full schedule, including ceremonies and bilateral talks, the President returned to Jakarta the same evening.
“In less than a full day away from Indonesia, the President was already back in Jakarta,” Teddy said.
The meeting with Putin, according to Teddy, underscored Prabowo’s commitment to maintaining a strong and diversified international presence, positioning Indonesia as a key player in global economic and political affairs.
