Key Takeaways

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Eco-friendly mobility operator Green SM has officially introduced an electric two-wheeler fleet in Jakarta on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, marking the brand’s first international expansion outside its home market.
The rollout complements the company’s existing electric car taxi network in Indonesia, creating an integrated zero-emission urban transit ecosystem designed to serve Jakarta's high-density commuter traffic.
Greater Jakarta represents one of the world's most congested metropolitan corridors, where motorcycle transport serves as the indispensable workhorse for daily commuting and rapid parcel logistics. By pairing Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast's hardware with battery-swapping stations and flexible driver financing, Green SM is moving to challenge entrenched, combustion-engine ride-hailing giants while aiding national air quality initiatives.
Smart Fleet Deployment and Launch Incentives
To meet the demands of rapid urban transit, Green SM is fielding brand-new VinFast Evo and Feliz II smart electric motorbikes operated by trained professional drivers under fixed, transparent fare structures.
Riders can book trips directly through the official Green SM mobile application, which offers standard ride-hailing reservations as well as a "Green Now" express booking feature for immediate pickups.
To mark the commercial rollout, Green SM is offering introductory consumer promotions from Sept. 16 to Sept. 22, 2026. First-time riders receive a 75% discount capped at Rp 10,000 ($0.63) for their initial trip. For all subsequent rides during the promotional window, customers receive a 25% discount capped at Rp 10,000 ($0.63) per transaction without limits on ride volume.
Flexible Driver Economics and Free Battery Swapping
To rapidly onboard commercial drivers, the company introduced low-barrier leasing structures tailored to urban gig workers.
Mitra drivers can enter a rent-to-own pathway starting at Rp 39,000 ($2.45) per day, which pairs a guaranteed daily income baseline of up to Rp 160,000 ($10.06) with full vehicle ownership after two years. Alternatively, drivers can choose flexible three-, six-, or twelve-month rental contracts backed by a nominal deposit of Rp 150,000 ($9.43), securing the same daily income guarantee of Rp 160,000 ($10.06) for their first two months alongside performance bonuses.
Operating margins are bolstered by significantly lower daily running expenses compared to conventional internal combustion motorcycles. To eliminate charging downtime and lower fuel costs, drivers receive access to complimentary battery swaps up to five times per day across the specialized V-Green charging and exchange grid.
Advancing Urban Decarbonization Targets
The two-wheel launch widens the company's "Hijaukan Langkahmu, Segarkan Kotamu" (Green Your Steps, Refresh Your City) campaign, aligning with the Ministry of Environment and the Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) clean-air directives.
"The launch of electric motorbike services in Jakarta marks a strategic step in Green SM's international expansion," said Global Chief Executive Officer of Green SM Pham Nhat Minh Hoang on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026. "We aim to build an entirely electric-based mobility ecosystem covering both four-wheel and two-wheel vehicles to address daily transit needs, while serving as a long-term partner in Indonesia’s green transition."
According to life-cycle assessment (LCA) benchmarks cited by the company, electric passenger vehicles and two-wheelers curb operational greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75% relative to conventional gasoline engines.
Globally, Green SM has logged roughly 850 million passenger trips covering nearly 3.73 billion miles (6 billion kilometers). The company estimates this operational volume has prevented over 800,000 metric tons (881,849 short tons) of carbon dioxide emissions, an environmental impact equivalent to the carbon sequestration capacity of 36 million trees.
