Polling Surge: Prabowo Gains High Marks as ‘Free Meals’ and Smooth Eid Travel Anchor Public Support
Key Takeaways

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto is riding a wave of popular support as his administration clears its first major hurdle: the 2026 Idulfitri homecoming season. Two independent surveys released this week highlight a robust public mandate, bolstered by high-visibility social programs and efficient logistics management during the world’s largest seasonal migration.
For global investors and political analysts, these numbers signal domestic stability and strong execution capability. High approval ratings provide Prabowo with the political capital necessary to push through ambitious fiscal agendas, including his multi-billion dollar social programs. The success of the 2026 Mudik logistics also serves as a "stress test" for the administration's infrastructure and law enforcement coordination, which passed with a high 84.5% satisfaction rate.

The 'MBG' Factor: Nutritious Meals as Political Capital
The "Free Nutritious Meal" (MBG) program has transitioned from a campaign promise to a major driver of government approval. According to Poltracking Indonesia’s Lead Researcher Masduri Amrawi, the program is the most "phenomenal" initiative in the eyes of the public, with an 88% awareness rate.
"The public's satisfaction with the Prabowo-Gibran administration is supported by the Free Nutritious Meal program, with 23% of respondents citing it," Amrawi stated on Monday. While 55% of the public is satisfied with the program’s rollout, 35.8% remain critical, suggesting that while the "hero" program is popular, the administration faces pressure to optimize its massive logistics network.
Logistics Triumph: Mudik 2026 Performance
While social programs won hearts, logistics won minds. Cyrus Network’s latest data shows that 84.5% of travelers were satisfied with the 2026 Eid service quality. This figure rose to 85.2% for the return flow ("arus balik"), largely due to the government’s tactical decision to implement WFH-style "work days" on March 26 and 30 to staggered the traffic.
"The momentum of those two work days made the roads relatively more controllable and predictable," said Syahril Ilhami of Cyrus Network. Traffic engineering maneuvers like contra-flow and a sufficient supply of rest areas were cited as top reasons for the smooth transit.
Corporate Performance Winners
The holiday season transformed into a high-stakes showcase for Indonesia's state-owned infrastructure giants, with public satisfaction scores hitting record-breaking levels across the board. Leading the charge, national rail operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) secured a dominant 93.2% approval rating, closely followed by the Ministry of Transportation at 91.1% and ferry operator PT ASDP at 91%. Aviation hub manager PT Angkasa Pura and toll road operator PT Jasa Marga rounded out the stellar performance with satisfaction scores of 90.9% and 88.9%, respectively, signaling a massive win for the administration’s logistics and transport coordination.
Despite the high satisfaction, challenges remain in the "last mile" of travel. The survey found that 55.9% of travelers still rely on two-wheeled vehicles (motorcycles), highlighting a continued gap in affordable public transport for the masses in Java and North Sumatra.
