JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals program records strong public approval on Sunday, Feb 8, 2026 in Jakarta as a national survey finds 72.8% of respondents satisfied, with Gen Z support reaching 80.7%, reinforcing the program’s political and social impact.
The survey, conducted by Indikator Politik Indonesia in January 2026, showed 12.2% of respondents were very satisfied and 60.6% fairly satisfied, while 24.4% expressed dissatisfaction.
.
Founder and chief researcher Burhanuddin Muhtadi said public awareness of the program had become widespread, even as critical voices remained visible within the data.
“If asked personally, I am among those who are not satisfied, but my voice is only one compared to thousands of respondents in this survey sample,” Burhanuddin said during a virtual presentation of the findings on Sunday.
The data also showed regional disparities, with Jakarta posting the lowest satisfaction level nationwide at just 52%, making it the area with the highest share of dissatisfied respondents.
.
Burhanuddin said dissatisfaction with the Free Nutritious Meals program tended to align with negative assessments of President Prabowo Subianto’s overall performance.
“The National Nutrition Agency must maintain strong performance on the ground. If dissatisfaction rises, it will inevitably erode the president’s public image,” he said.
Another key finding was a shift in public opinion on program coverage, with 60% of respondents now supporting universal provision for all children regardless of economic background, up from 47% in January 2025.
The national survey involved 1,220 respondents across all Indonesian provinces who were eligible voters, using multistage random sampling with a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9% at a 95% confidence level.
The survey launch event also featured Prof Suparji Ahmad, Chairman of the Academic Senate of Al-Azhar University Indonesia, Kiki Iswara Darmayana, CEO of Rakyat Merdeka Group, Retno Pinasti, Editor in Chief of SCTV-Indosiar, Primus Dorimulu, CEO of Investortrust.id, and Rizka Halida, senior researcher at Indikator.
