CAIRO, Investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday, Oct 13 2025, to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and to reaffirm Indonesia’s readiness to deploy peacekeeping troops should the United Nations mandate a mission to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza.
The presidential aircraft Garuda Indonesia-1 carrying the Head of State and a limited delegation landed at Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport at around 7 a.m. local time. Prabowo’s visit underscores Indonesia’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by Egypt’s Presidential Chamberlain Mohammed Mokhtar, Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Lutfi Rauf, and Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo Colonel (D) Dafris D. Syahruddin. Prabowo had departed earlier from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta at around 12:20 a.m. WIB.
During his stay, Prabowo is scheduled to participate in plenary and bilateral sessions of the peace summit and to witness the signing ceremony of a ceasefire and peace agreement for Gaza, should the talks reach a final accord.
The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit is attended by prominent world leaders including United States President Donald Trump, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, French President Emmanuel Macron, Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Their participation signals a renewed global effort to halt the prolonged conflict in Gaza and to build a framework for sustainable peace in the region.
Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompany President Prabowo on the official visit. The invitation for the summit was received at short notice, yet Prabowo immediately confirmed his attendance, recognizing the strategic importance of the meeting for the Palestinian peace process.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the President decided to attend after consultations at his private residence in Jakarta on Sunday night. “Although the invitation came on short notice, the President considers it an important continuation of negotiations that, God willing, could bring peace to Palestine, especially Gaza,” Prasetyo stated.
He added that Prabowo has instructed the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to prepare peacekeeping units in case the UN Security Council authorizes deployment following the summit. “The Deputy Commander of the TNI has begun preparations so that, if needed, we are ready,” Prasetyo said.
At the UN General Assembly session on Sept 23 2025, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s readiness to contribute up to 20,000 peacekeeping personnel to support global security operations, asserting that peace cannot rely on words alone but must be demonstrated through concrete action. “Indonesia stands ready to send 20,000 or even more of our men and women to help secure peace in Gaza or elsewhere,” he declared in New York.
The President’s attendance in Egypt reflects Indonesia’s historic foreign-policy principle of actively contributing to world peace, as mandated by the preamble to the 1945 Constitution. His participation also strengthens Indonesia’s role as a moderate voice in the Muslim world and a bridge builder between developing nations and major powers.
