OSAKA, Investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto has arrived in Osaka, Japan on Saturday, Sept 20, 2025, to visit the Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. The stop marks the beginning of an international tour that will take him to New York, Ottawa, and The Hague for a series of high-level diplomatic engagements.
Prabowo landed at Kansai International Airport in Osaka at around 08:30 local time, accompanied by his son Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo, also known as Didit Hediprasetyo. He was welcomed by Indonesia’s Chargé d’Affaires Maria Renata Hutagalung, Consul General for Osaka John Tjahjanto Boestami, and Defense Attaché to Tokyo Rear Admiral Hidayaturrahman. The Indonesia Pavilion at Expo 2025 highlights the philosophy of Bali’s Tri Hita Karana, which emphasizes harmony between people, nature, and God. This principle underpins the pavilion’s narrative and vision, reflecting Indonesia’s ambition to help shape an inclusive and sustainable global future.
Expo 2025 Osaka, which carries the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” is joined by 158 countries and emphasizes international collaboration on climate change, technological transformation, and sustainable development. Prabowo’s visit underscores Indonesia’s active diplomacy and its effort to position itself as a key player in regional and global affairs.
Overseas Agenda
Foreign Minister Sugiono said Prabowo’s trip to Osaka was part of a broader overseas agenda. After completing his program in Japan, Prabowo will continue to New York to attend the 80th United Nations General Assembly. Indonesia has been scheduled as the third speaker during the high-level debate session, following Brazil and the United States.
The assembly, themed “Better Together, Eight Years and More for Peace, Development and Human Rights,” provides an opportunity for Indonesia to reiterate its support for multilateralism. Prabowo’s engagements will begin on Monday, Sept 22, 2025, with participation in an international conference on the two-state solution for the Israel-Palestine conflict. On Tuesday, Sept 23, he will deliver Indonesia’s national statement during the general debate.
Beyond the UN, Prabowo will hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with his ministers, including Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai, and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani.
After wrapping up his agenda in New York, Prabowo and his delegation will travel to Ottawa, Canada, for an official visit and to witness the signing of the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). From Canada, he will proceed to the Netherlands, where he is scheduled to meet King Willem-Alexander and Prime Minister Mark Rutte, before returning to Jakarta.
