JAKARTA, investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto meets Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo on Saturday, marking a key diplomatic engagement in his Middle East tour to strengthen bilateral relations and address regional geopolitical tensions.
The visit to Egypt follows Prabowo’s participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Türkiye. Upon his arrival at Cairo International Airport on Friday evening, April 11, Prabowo was received by Indonesian and Egyptian officials ahead of the formal bilateral program scheduled for the following day.
According to Yusuf Permana, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media at the Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo began his official agenda on Saturday around 11:00 a.m. local time with a ceremonial welcome at the Al-Ittihadiya Palace. The ceremony included national anthems and the formal introduction of delegations from both countries.
Following the welcome ceremony, Prabowo and El-Sisi held a private tête-à-tête to discuss pressing regional issues, including the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the broader geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East. The two leaders also explored avenues to elevate bilateral cooperation through strategic initiatives.
“President Prabowo will engage in consultation and dialogue with President El-Sisi regarding the geopolitical situation in the region, including Gaza, as well as several other strategic issues,” said Yusuf Permana in a press statement.
As a tangible outcome of the meeting, both presidents witnessed the signing of a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership, underlining their mutual commitment to deepen bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
The engagement concluded with a state luncheon at the palace before President Prabowo departed for Doha, Qatar, to continue his diplomatic tour.
