JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Senior political figures including Zulkifli Hasan, Muhaimin Iskandar, and Sufmi Dasco Ahmad meet on Monday, Dec 29, 2025 in Jakarta at the residence of Bahlil Lahadalia to strengthen coalition ties and discuss upcoming political agendas, a gathering that underscores coordination among parties backing President Prabowo Subianto.
The meeting, according to Golkar politician and AMPI deputy chairman Arief Rosyid Hasan, actually took place on Sunday, Dec 28, 2025, and focused on informal discussions rather than formal decision making.
“The meeting was a silaturahmi and a discussion to strengthen the coalition and talk about several future political agendas,” Arief Rosyid said, as quoted by Antara.
He declined to elaborate on specific issues discussed by the four party leaders.
A photo shared by Arief showed Zulkifli sitting next to Bahlil and directly facing Dasco, while Muhaimin sat beside Dasco and opposite Bahlil, reflecting the informal and collegial nature of the gathering.
Golkar, PAN, PKB, and Gerindra are part of the governing coalition supporting President Prabowo Subianto, who also serves as chairman of the Gerindra Party.
Other coalition members include the Democratic Party, Crescent Star Party, Gelora Indonesia Party, PSI, Garuda Party, Prima Party, and Aceh Party.
One political issue currently drawing attention is the proposal to have regional heads elected by local legislative councils instead of through direct elections.
On that issue, Gerindra Party secretary general Sugiono said the party supported the idea of governors, regents, and mayors being elected by regional councils.
“Gerindra is in a position to support efforts or plans to implement regional head elections through local legislative councils at the regent, mayor, and governor levels,” Sugiono said.
He argued that indirect elections would be more efficient than the direct system used between 2005 and 2024, citing lower administrative stages, budgetary needs, and political costs.
Sugiono said regional election grants from local budgets reached nearly Rp 7 trillion, equal to $430 million, in 2015 and climbed to more than Rp 37 trillion, equal to $2.3 billion, by 2024.
“That is funding that could be allocated to more productive uses and efforts to improve public welfare and the economy,” he said.
