MAKASSAR, Investortrust.id — PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development Tbk, or GMTD, has reaffirmed its legitimate ownership of 16 hectares of land in the Tanjung Bunga area of Makassar, asserting that all acquisitions between 1991 and 1998 were carried out legally under its sole authority.
The company said the entire process of land purchases and acquisitions during that period was conducted transparently and in full compliance with legal procedures. “Any party claiming ownership of the land—under any pretext, including purchases or acquisitions made between 1991 and 1998—is unlawful and constitutes an act against the law, as PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development Tbk was the only entity authorized to conduct such transactions during that period,” said President Director Ali Said in an official statement on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2025.
GMTD revealed that although it has maintained physical control over the land, certain individuals recently carried out illegal encroachment on approximately 5,000 square meters within the property. The company has reported the incident to both the South Sulawesi Regional Police and the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.
Through the statement, GMTD urged all parties to assess the issue objectively based on legal evidence and official documentation. “PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development Tbk continues to respect the rule of law and stands ready to cooperate with authorities to safeguard legal certainty, public order, and the broader community’s interests,” Ali said.
Founded as a joint initiative between the central government and regional administrations, GMTD is a publicly listed company on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Its shareholders include the South Sulawesi Provincial Government, Gowa Regency Government, Makassar City Government, and the South Sulawesi Development Participation Foundation, jointly holding 32.5%, along with public investors and PT Makassar Permata Sulawesi, which also holds 32.5%.
