Seven Telecom Firms Enter 1.4 GHz Frequency Auction, Two Linked to Sinarmas Join

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has confirmed that seven telecommunications companies have entered the auction for Indonesia’s 1.4 gigahertz frequency band, a spectrum expected to enhance 5G services and expand connectivity in remote areas. The list includes two firms linked to conglomerate PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk, or DSSA, part of the Sinarmas Group.
The auction process, overseen by the ministry’s Selection Team for 1.4 GHz Frequency Users, follows the acquisition of e-auction accounts between Monday and Wednesday, Aug 11–13, 2025. The announcement was published on the ministry’s official website on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025.
The participating companies are PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera—jointly controlled by Axiata and DSSA—PT Indosat Tbk, PT Telemedia Komunikasi Pratama, PT Netciti Persada, PT Telekomunikasi Selular, and PT Eka Mas Republik, which is indirectly controlled by DSSA.
According to the announcement, companies that have obtained e-auction accounts now move to the next stage of the process, which involves accessing the selection documents. These are available for download between Monday, Aug. 11, at 9:00 a.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 3:00 p.m. Jakarta time.
During this period, participants are expected to review the contents carefully and prepare written questions for any points that require clarification, to be submitted through formal channels.
The 1.4 GHz spectrum is allocated for Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) services, which the government says will strengthen data network capacity and support both 5G expansion and connectivity for underserved regions. The auction results will determine which operators secure this strategic resource in Indonesia’s telecom sector.
