Airlangga Discusses Power Plant and Data Center Collaboration with UAE Minister
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, including power plants.
Suhail highlighted Indonesia as a strategic partner for the UAE, under the Indonesia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-UAE CEPA). He proposed joint projects in energy, such as large-scale power plants with a capacity of up to 100 GW and the development of data centers.
“We need a task force to ensure the successful implementation of energy cooperation between our countries,” Suhail said during his visit to Jakarta on Monday, Feb 3, 2025, as reported by Antara.

In response, Airlangga agreed to accelerate the implementation of the I-UAE CEPA agreement, focusing on strategic sectors, including the Andaman Sea Project and data center development in Batam or Bintan.
Energy has been a key focus of collaboration between the two nations. A notable project is the Cirata Solar Power Plant in West Java, a partnership between PLN (Indonesia's state electricity company) and Masdar, a UAE clean energy firm, generating 145 MWp of energy.
Suhail also mentioned that his ministry is preparing a proposal for comprehensive cooperation in bauxite and gas downstream development, which is crucial for industries such as aluminum and large-scale power plant construction.
