Aceh remains the hardest-hit province, recording 359 fatalities, 94 missing persons, 3,500 injured residents, and more than 97,400 damaged homes across 18 affected districts. Aceh Tamiang and Aceh Timur account for the largest number of displaced residents, with more than 440,000 people forced to evacuate due to widespread flooding and landslides since late November.
In West Sumatra, authorities have reported 228 deaths and over 6,100 damaged homes, with Agam regency recording the highest fatality count. North Sumatra has confirmed 329 deaths, with major impacts across 18 districts, including Tapanuli Tengah and Tapanuli Selatan.
Amid the ongoing emergency, President Prabowo Subianto traveled to Aceh on Sunday, December 7, 2025, to inspect the disaster-stricken areas and ensure that emergency response and recovery operations proceed swiftly and effectively.
The President departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta at around 07:55 a.m. and landed at Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Aceh Besar. During his visit, he is scheduled to inspect severely affected locations, monitor evacuation efforts, assess aid distribution, and review the reopening of access routes in isolated areas.
The visit is part of the government’s broader push to accelerate on-the-ground coordination. Prabowo will receive updated reports from regional authorities, the military, the police, Basarnas, and BNPB regarding the latest developments in rescue efforts and infrastructure recovery.
The government stressed that national resources have been fully mobilized to protect residents and expedite the restoration of essential infrastructure. Air-based logistical operations are being intensified to reach communities cut off by landslides and collapsed roads.
On Friday, December 5, President Prabowo underscored that the disaster striking several regions in Sumatra is a shared national hardship that must be faced together.
“We have proven that the government responds quickly and decisively. Our people can see that when disaster hits any part of our homeland, the machinery of the state is there immediately,” he said.
Accompanying the President on the flight to Aceh were State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo.
