JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto on Monday, Aug 25, 2025, inaugurated eight new Indonesian ambassadors, including the long-awaited envoy to the United States, ending more than two years without a definitive ambassador in Washington.
Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo was sworn in as Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United States, replacing Rosan Roeslani who completed his tenure in July 2023. The prolonged vacancy meant that Indonesia’s mission in Washington had been led only by a charge d’affaires, even as Jakarta and Washington entered a critical period marked by trade disputes and new opportunities.
During the vacancy, former US President Donald Trump reintroduced reciprocal tariffs on several Indonesian exports, sparking concerns over market access, while at the same time bilateral cooperation deepened in defense procurement and green transition initiatives such as critical minerals supply and renewable energy partnerships.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the State Palace in Jakarta, was conducted under Presidential Decree No. 75/P of 2025. The event began with the national anthem, followed by the reading of the decree and a solemn oath-taking led by President Prabowo.
“I pledge loyalty to the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia of 1945, and I will uphold my responsibilities with the utmost integrity, guided by ethical conduct and accountability,” the President recited, with the ambassadors repeating his words.
The ceremony concluded with the signing of official documents, witnessed directly by the President.
