Prabowo Leads Meeting in Hambalang to Discuss Palm Oil Land Management
The discussion resulted in key policy decisions aimed at improving land governance. Among them, the government will enforce stricter regulations through the Land Use and Investment Management Task Force. This task force will oversee the proper utilization of land, ensuring adherence to existing laws and preventing unauthorized land use.
Additionally, the government plans to adjust policies concerning land already utilized for palm oil plantations. These adjustments will be made in line with existing regulations to create a sustainable balance between environmental preservation, economic development, and public welfare.
Prabowo emphasized the state’s role in enforcing regulations, citing Article 33 of Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution, which mandates that natural resources must be managed in the nation’s best interest and for the greatest prosperity of the people. He stressed that the land management reforms would follow a structured and systematic approach to uphold this principle.
The implementation of the decisions made in this meeting will be directly supervised by Prabowo, ensuring that the task force follows proper governance principles. The government remains committed to maintaining a balance between investment interests and environmental sustainability, aiming to provide legal certainty for stakeholders while fostering better governance in the palm oil sector.
