Gov't Revokes 50 Land Certificates on Tangerang’s Coastal Barrier
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency, or ATR/BPN, has revoked 50 land certificates issued on the coastal barrier in Tangerang Regency within just four days, Minister Nusron Wahid announced in a meeting with Commission II of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025.
"So far, we have revoked 50 land certificates," Nusron said.
Ongoing Investigation into 263 Land Use Rights
Earlier, Nusron explained that along the 30-kilometer coastal barrier, ATR/BPN identified 263 land use rights (HGB) and 17 freehold titles (HM). The total area under HGB spans 390.8 hectares, while HM covers 22.9 hectares. The ministry is currently reviewing which plots fall inside or outside the shoreline boundary.
"We are still in the process of verification. We are determining which plots are within the shoreline and which are outside," he added.
The number of revoked land certificates is likely to increase as the investigation progresses. Nusron noted that the ministry had only been actively working for four days due to a long holiday break.
"We practically only worked from Monday to Thursday, then we had a holiday. Within these four days, we identified and revoked 50 land certificates," he explained.
License Revocations and Disciplinary Actions
In addition to the certificate cancellations, the ministry has conducted an investigative audit into how these land titles were issued. As a result, ATR/BPN has recommended revoking the licenses of licensed surveying firms (KJSB) involved in the case.
"These land surveys were conducted by private companies. We use two types of surveys—one by ATR/BPN officers and another by licensed surveying firms, which must still be approved by ATR/BPN," Nusron clarified.
The ministry has also imposed severe disciplinary actions, including dismissals and terminations, against eight officials involved in the irregular land certification process.
Among those sanctioned are:
- JS, former head of the Tangerang Land Office
- SH, former head of Land Rights and Registration
- ET, former head of Survey and Mapping
- WS, hhairman of Committee A
- YS, hhairman of Committee A
- NS, hember of Committee A
- LM, former head of Survey and Mapping (successor to ET)
- KA, former hcting head of Land Rights and Registration
"These eight individuals have undergone an internal inspection and received sanctions. The next step is to finalize their penalties and remove them from their positions," Nusron stated.
The ATR/BPN’s crackdown on land irregularities signals the government's commitment to enforcing land-use regulations and protecting public coastal areas from unlawful claims.
