JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The Indonesian government has rolled out a Rp 911.16 billion, equal to about $56.7 million, economic stimulus package on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026 in Jakarta to safeguard public mobility and household purchasing power ahead of the Ramadan fasting month and the Idulfitri holiday period.
The stimulus, officially titled Economic Stimulus Package I-2026, was announced at Gambir Station in central Jakarta and is aimed at smoothing seasonal travel flows while sustaining economic activity during one of the country’s busiest consumption periods.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the package combined state budget funding with non-state support to reduce travel costs and encourage consumer spending.
“This afternoon, the government launched Economic Stimulus Package I-2026 ahead of Ramadan and the 2026 Idulfitri holiday at Gambir Station, Jakarta, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026,” Mr. Teddy said in a written statement.
A central pillar of the stimulus is a broad set of transport fare discounts across multiple modes of travel, reflecting the government’s focus on easing mobility during the annual homecoming rush.
“The transport fare discounts have a total estimated budget of Rp 911.16 billion, sourced from the state budget and non-state funding,” Mr. Teddy said.
Under the program, railway passengers will receive a 30% fare discount for travel between March 14 and March 29, 2026, with the government targeting around 1.2 million passengers.
Sea transportation fares will also be cut by 30% from March 11 to April 5, 2026, with an estimated 445,000 passengers expected to benefit.
For ferry services, the government will fully waive port service charges, effectively providing a 100% discount on those fees from March 12 to March 31, 2026, targeting about 945,000 vehicles and 2.4 million passengers.
Domestic air travel will also be supported through fare reductions of between 17% and 18% for economy-class tickets on domestic routes, applicable from March 14 to March 29, 2026, with a target of 3.3 million passengers.
Officials said the discounts were designed to make travel more affordable during Ramadan and Idulfitri, when millions of Indonesians return to their hometowns, often placing pressure on household finances and transport infrastructure.
Beyond transport, the government is also adjusting work arrangements to help spread travel demand and reduce congestion during peak periods.
The stimulus package includes a work from anywhere or flexible working arrangement policy for five working days, scheduled for March 16, 17, 25, 26, and 27, 2026.
The policy is expected to allow workers to stagger their travel plans, easing pressure on transport systems while maintaining productivity.
In parallel, the government is reinforcing social protection measures to sustain household purchasing power during the fasting month and holiday season.
Mr. Teddy said the government would distribute food assistance to 35.04 million beneficiary families in income deciles one through four.
Each household will receive 10 kilograms of rice and two liters of cooking oil per month, delivered in a lump sum covering two months.
The food assistance program carries an estimated budget of Rp 11.92 trillion, equivalent to about $744 million, and is intended to cushion low-income households against price pressures during a period of heightened consumption.
The stimulus announcement was attended by Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Rini Widyantini, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi.
The government said the package reflected its broader commitment to maintaining economic stability, supporting domestic demand, and ensuring smooth mobility during Ramadan and the Idulfitri holidays.
Officials added that the combination of transport incentives, flexible work policies, and targeted social assistance was expected to help sustain consumption and mitigate seasonal economic volatility.
