JAKARTA, Investortrust.id – PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, a subsidiary of PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk, or AMMN, has obtained a long-awaited export recommendation from Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to ship up to 480,000 dry metric tons (dmt) of copper concentrate. The permit, valid for six months starting October 31, 2025, will allow the company to request a formal Export Approval Letter from the Ministry of Trade.
President Director Rachmat Makkasau expressed appreciation for the government’s support, particularly from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, which coordinated closely regarding the company’s smelter conditions. He explained that Amman’s copper smelter had temporarily halted operations in July and August 2025 due to repairs on the Flash Converting Furnace and the Sulfuric Acid Plant.
“The damage occurred beyond our control, unintentionally and unavoidably. The shutdown was necessary to prevent further damage and ensure safety. Repairs to the smelter’s key components are highly complex and are expected to continue through the first half of 2026,” Rachmat said in a disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) on Saturday, Nov 1, 2025.
With exports resuming after being suspended since early 2025, Amman can now prevent its storage capacity from being exceeded, ensuring continuous mining operations during smelter repairs. The export approval also safeguards Amman’s fiscal contributions to both national and regional economies.
For 2025, Amman targets total production of 430,000 dmt of copper concentrate, containing approximately 228 million pounds of copper and 90,000 ounces of gold. This projection factors in the use of stockpiled ore and low-grade fresh ore from the outer ring of Phase 8, as the company’s mining activities remain focused on overburden removal.
At the end of 2024, Amman held 190,000 dmt of copper concentrate in stock. As of Sept 30, 2025, production reached 310,143 dmt, of which 273,506 dmt had been processed through the company’s smelter. Total concentrate inventory stood at 226,637 dmt by the end of September, part of which is scheduled for export while the remainder will be processed as the smelter’s repairs advance.
Amman’s financial results reflected the impact of the halted smelter operations. In the third quarter of 2025, the company’s net sales dropped 78% year on year to US$545 million, from US$2.49 billion in the same period last year. EBITDA plunged to US$279 million from US$1.47 billion, while the company booked a net loss of US$175.05 million compared with a net profit of US$719.67 million in the same period of 2024.
