CILEUNGSI, Investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto on Monday, Sept 29, 2025, officiated the largest mass signing of subsidized housing mortgages in Indonesia’s history, covering 26,000 units under the Sejahtera Mortgage program with Liquidity Facility for Housing Finance (FLPP).
The ceremony, held at Pesona Kahuripan 10 in Cileungsi, Bogor, symbolically marked the handover of keys to representatives of 17 professions from low-income families, including farmers, teachers, soldiers, nurses, and factory workers.
Prabowo said the initiative demonstrated the government’s determination to expand access to affordable housing for working-class Indonesians.
He expressed gratitude to the Housing and Settlement Ministry, state-owned lenders, private developers, and housing associations for working together to deliver the milestone. “I am confident we will achieve even greater things in the future,” he told the audience.
The event, coordinated by the Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) and the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP), was historic in scale.
While 200 beneficiaries signed their contracts onsite, another 25,800 families completed the process virtually across 100 locations in 33 provinces through 39 banks.
“This is the largest mass signing ever for FLPP and part of the acceleration of the Three Million Homes Program,” said BP Tapera Commissioner Heru Pudyo Nugroho.
Prabowo also took the occasion to publicly praise Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait, known as Ara, who had earlier promised 25,000 subsidized homes but delivered 26,000 instead.
“He said 25,000, but today it turned out to be 26,000,” Prabowo said with a smile, adding that it was a rare and commendable example of a minister exceeding his word. “This shows transformation in government, especially transformation of mindset and leadership.”
Maruarar admitted to being nervous welcoming the president, as it was Prabowo’s first appearance at a ministry housing event since his cabinet appointment.
“I apologize, Pak President. I promised 25,000 homes, but today BP Tapera and our banking partners prepared 26,000,” Maruarar said. His humility drew applause from the crowd.
Prabowo later recalled the legacy of Maruarar’s father, Sabam Sirait, a respected statesman and champion of ordinary Indonesians. “Ara has continued his father’s tradition of fighting for the people. I am glad to see this,” he remarked.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo. A mini housing expo showcasing green housing and subsidized financing was also held alongside the ceremony.
