JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Transjakarta restores all busway routes by Sunday noon and runs normal operations from 5 a.m. Monday across Jakarta after unrest on Friday damaged 22 shelters, ensuring commuters can resume routine travel while repairs continue.
PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) said the bus rapid transit network resumed citywide service on Sunday, Aug 31, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. local time, with services operating stably into the night. The company added that all regular routes, including night services, began Monday operations at 05:00 a.m. to meet weekday demand.
Head of Public Relations and CSR Ayu Wardhani said services had stabilized on Sunday night and that crews accelerated station cleanup and inspections to allow a full restart at the start of the week. She noted that operations were adjusted over the weekend after demonstrations on Friday, Aug 29, 2025 led to vandalism at 22 shelters in several parts of the capital.
To ease the burden on riders during the recovery period, Transjakarta is charging a symbolic Rp 1 ($0.00006) fare from 00:00 a.m. on Sunday, Aug 31 through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 7, 2025. The city administration has also signaled a week of free rides for Transjakarta and MRT services, alongside a program to repair damaged stops and tidy affected corridors.
Deputy Governor Rano Karno said the provincial government would support immediate repairs while providing fare relief for commuters in the interim. He added that the province would coordinate closely with Transjakarta and MRT Jakarta to synchronize service levels, safety patrols, and shelter restorations over the coming days.
Transjakarta urged customers to monitor real-time service updates via its official channels on X (@pt_transjakarta), Instagram (@infotije), and the TJ mobile application. The operator also asked for public understanding where temporary boarding arrangements remain in place while contractors complete structural and electrical checks at vandalized sites.
The rapid restoration underscores the network’s role in urban mobility and economic continuity. With weekday commuting patterns resuming on Monday, Sept 1, 2025, the combination of normalized operations and a token fare is expected to stabilize passenger flows while repairs progress through the week.
