MAGELANG, Investortrust.id — Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and National Resilience Institute, or Lemhannas, Governor TB Ace Hasan Syadzily call on Indonesia’s business leaders to integrate nationalism and geopolitical awareness into their economic strategies during the 2025 Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or Kadin, Retreat at the Indonesian Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, on Saturday, Aug 9, 2025.
Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie, joined by 230 national and provincial Kadin executives as well as leaders from member associations, attended the session led by Ace on “Global Geopolitics: Asta Cita and the Challenges to Achieving National Resilience.” Ace emphasized that economic resilience is inseparable from national resilience, particularly amid heightened global geopolitical tensions.
Anindya, widely known as Anin, praised Lemhannas for its support in preparing the retreat’s nationalism-themed curriculum over the past three months. He said the business sector must unite ahead of Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day on Aug 17, 2025, under the spirit of “Indonesia Incorporated,” which promotes mutual cooperation and collective progress.
Ace stressed that Kadin plays a strategic role in safeguarding national economic resilience. A strong national ideology, he said, is the hallmark of an advanced nation, and businesses must bolster domestic capabilities to create jobs and foster a healthy business ecosystem. The class covered the four national consensuses, national history, and the challenges facing Indonesia amid geopolitical uncertainty.
In another session, Sjafrie highlighted the close link between defense and economic resilience, noting that Kadin has a pivotal role in reinforcing the nation’s economic foundations. “The business community is the driver of the national economy and must also be grounded in strong national values,” he said.
The four-day retreat, running until Sunday, Aug 10, is intended not only as a pause from daily operations but also as a moment for reflection and consolidation. Participants aim to align behind the Indonesia Incorporated vision, strengthening collaboration between the state and the business community to achieve President Prabowo Subianto’s goals of 8% economic growth, national self-reliance, and social justice for all Indonesians.
Speakers at the retreat include Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Deputy Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, and Lemhannas Governor Ace Hasan Syadzily.
