JAKARTA, investortrust.id – Shares of Barito Pacific Group companies surged dramatically on Monday, July 14, 2025, resulting in a one-day increase of Rp 73.08 trillion (US$4.5 billion) in the wealth of its founder, Prajogo Pangestu, reinforcing his position as Indonesia’s richest individual.
According to Forbes Real-Time Billionaires, Prajogo's fortune grew by 16.02% to reach US$32.2 billion (approximately Rp 523 trillion), ranking him as the 59th richest person globally. His increase outpaced other global billionaires, including Zhong Shanshan, whose wealth rose by US$933 million, and Zhong Huijuan with an increase of US$552 million.
The remarkable jump in Prajogo’s net worth was fueled by substantial gains in his listed companies at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). Among the standout performers was PT Barito Renewables Energy Tbk (BREN), whose shares hit the upper auto rejection limit (ARA), climbing 19.67% to Rp 7,300 per share, pushing its market capitalization to Rp 976.6 trillion.
Shares of PT Petrosea Tbk (PTRO) surged 24.76% to Rp 3,980 per share (ARA), bringing its market capitalization to Rp 40.14 trillion. Additionally, PT Chandra Daya Investasi Tbk (CDIA) soared by the maximum daily limit of 25% to Rp 500 per share, lifting its market cap to Rp 62.41 trillion.
PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT), the group's flagship, increased by 16.67% to Rp 2,100 per share, with a market value reaching Rp 196.86 trillion. PT Petrindo Jaya Kreasi Tbk (CUAN) also rose significantly, gaining 17.1% to Rp 16,875 per share, valued at Rp 189.69 trillion, while PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (TPIA) saw a modest increase of 2.30%, closing at Rp 10,025 per share, with a market capitalization of Rp 867.27 trillion.
Prajogo Pangestu controls these entities through direct and indirect ownership structures. He owns 71.36% of BRPT, which in turn controls significant stakes in other subsidiaries. BRPT holds 34.63% of TPIA, while TPIA maintains a 60% stake in CDIA. Additionally, BRPT controls 64.66% of BREN, with Prajogo holding a direct stake of 0.10% in the same firm. Prajogo also directly controls 84.96% of CUAN, which further holds 45.28% of PTRO through its subsidiary, PT Kreasi Jasa Persada.
With this extraordinary market performance, Prajogo has further distanced himself from Indonesia’s second-richest individual, Low Tuck Kwong, whose net worth stands at US$27 billion, followed by R. Budi Hartono with US$21.7 billion, and Michael Hartono at US$20.8 billion.
