JAKARTA, Investortrust.id – The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has recorded over 2 million new investors in the first half of 2025, surpassing its full-year target and highlighting the growing appeal of capital markets among younger Indonesians.
President Director of IDX Iman Rachman said the milestone reflects broader public enthusiasm for long-term investing. “We now have more than 16.8 million capital market investors. With over 2 million additions as of June, we've already met our target for 2025,” Iman said during the bourse’s annual general meeting in Jakarta on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Last year, IDX recorded 2.7 million new investors, pushing the total to 14.8 million by end-2024—nearly quadrupling from 2020 levels. The growth has been driven largely by millennials and Gen Z, whose participation continues to redefine Indonesia’s retail investment landscape.
In addition to overall investor growth, Iman noted a surge in equity investors. Over the past five years, the number of stock investment accounts has climbed more than fourfold to 60.3 million, underscoring a fundamental shift in retail engagement with the market.
“With continued support from all stakeholders, we are confident this momentum will be sustained,” Iman said.
The achievement serves as a positive signal for Indonesia’s capital market, reinforcing its appeal as an accessible and promising investment vehicle—particularly for the country’s younger population.
