JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Indonesian enterprises and agribusiness leaders in Mindanao signed a strategic business-to-business (B2B) agricultural Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate cross-border investment, agtech integration, and supply chain resilience across the ASEAN region.
The deal was executed during the "Networking Meeting on Stronger Agribusiness Partnership between Indonesia and Mindanao" at the House of Indonesia in Davao City, Philippines, on July 18, 2026. Organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Davao City, the agreement paves the way for expanded commercial trade, technology transfers, and modernized agricultural initiatives between the two neighboring economies.
This cross-border alliance establishes a unified corridor for agribusiness expansion between Southeast Asia's largest economy and the agrarian stronghold of Mindanao. The agreement creates a direct channel for commercial scaling in smart farming technologies, digital agriculture, organic fertilizer development, and sustainable crop yields.
By aligning corporate interests and diplomatic support, Indonesia and the Philippines are taking concrete steps to insulate regional markets from global food security shocks. The joint push lowers entry barriers for cross-border joint ventures, allowing private players to mobilize capital into high-yield agricultural infrastructure, logistics, and human resource development across ASEAN.
Scaling Agtech and Smart Farming Partnerships
The agreement directly targets private-sector integration to modernize food production and establish resilient regional value chains. Beyond commodity trading, business delegates engaged in matchmaking sessions focused on digital farming tools, sustainable agriculture, and organic fertilizer production.
Indonesian Consul General in Davao City, Agus Trenggono, emphasized during his opening address that the Indonesian government remains fully committed to driving bilateral trade, cross-border investments, and private-sector partnerships with the Philippines.
Speaking at the event, Devi Erna Rachmawati, Vice Chairwoman for Agriculture at Kadin Indonesia—the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry—highlighted the strategic alignment between the two nations.
"Indonesia and the Philippines share the same vision in strengthening regional food security," Devi Erna Rachmawati said in her speech during the meeting on July 18, 2026. "Therefore, trade cooperation, investment, technology transfer, agricultural innovation, and human resource development serve as the foundation to build a more modern, competitive, and sustainable ASEAN agricultural sector."
Private Sector Titans Drive Cross-Border Deals
The Indonesian delegation, led by Consul General Agus Trenggono, featured prominent business figures, including Devi Erna Rachmawati, who also serves as CEO of PT Nexbio Tech International, a prominent Indonesian agricultural biotechnology firm. Key delegates included Iman Arif, Chairman of Kadin Indonesia's Philippine Bilateral Committee, alongside Dino Bimadiwanda Hindarto, President Director and CEO of security and logistics group PT Nawakara Perkasa Nusantara, CFO Robin Indrajid Hattari, and Fachrurrazi, President Director of clean energy developer SBW Energy.
The Philippine contingent brought together senior regional regulators and business leaders, led by Romeo L. Castañaga, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region XI. They were joined by Susan P. Cariaga, Chairwoman of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chamber President Mirasol B. Tiu, alongside executives from regional agribusiness firms, cooperatives, and investment groups.
Major Mindanao agricultural entities participated actively in the matchmaking sessions, including Mindanao Agriplus Corporation, Everland Agri Corporation, Organic Producer and Exporters Corp. (OPEC), ED-MAR International Agricultural Ventures Co. Ltd., MS3 Agri-Ventures Corporation, Farmtech, and Sunfood. The corporate lineup underscores strong regional appetite for joint venture capital and technology integration.
