Vietnamese Communist Party Chief Arrives in Indonesia, Set to Meet Prabowo

JAKARTA, investortrust.id – General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam arrived in Indonesia on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 1:15 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB), marking the start of a three-day state visit. His visit coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Vietnam.
Upon arrival at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta, To Lam and his spouse, Ngo Phu'o'ng Ly, were welcomed by Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Ta Van Thong, Indonesian Ambassador to Vietnam Denny Abdi, and Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
A guard of honor, a military band, and a ceremonial cannon salute accompanied To Lam’s arrival before he and his delegation proceeded to their hotel in Jakarta.
High-Level Meetings on Agenda
To Lam's visit, which runs until Tuesday (March 11, 2025), includes a state welcoming ceremony hosted by President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Monday (March 10, 2025).
Beyond his meeting with President Prabowo, To Lam is also scheduled to meet with key Indonesian lawmakers, including People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Ahmad Muzani, House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani, and Regional Representative Council (DPD) Speaker Sultan B Najamuddin at the Nusantara Building in Senayan.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
This marks To Lam’s first state visit to Indonesia as CPV General Secretary. The trip is expected to bolster strategic partnerships between Indonesia and Vietnam, reinforcing economic and political cooperation between the two Southeast Asian nations.
