Indian Ambassador Optimistic About Implementation of Five MoUs Between Indonesia and India
NEW DELHI, Investortrust.id – Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty expressed confidence that five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) signed between Indonesia and India at Hyderabad House in New Delhi will be successfully implemented.
“I am very sure the memorandum agreements will be implemented. Many ministers had also come and had their own meetings [with their counterparts],” Chakravorty told Investortrust in New Delhi on Monday, Jan 27, 2025.
One highlight was the visit of Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to Apollo Hospitals to discuss health-related connectivity and collaboration between the two countries. “This will happen. A delegation from the Ministry of Communications also engaged in discussions with Indian telecom companies,” he added.
Collaboration Across Multiple Sectors
The Ambassador noted that even before the Indonesian delegation and President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to India, discussions were held with Anindya Bakrie, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin). Both sides agreed to facilitate business delegations from each country to enhance bilateral economic ties.
Beyond signing the five MoUs, Chakravorty emphasized the numerous meetings conducted outside the primary agenda of the Indonesia-India CEO Forum. One notable example was a meeting between investment manager associations from both countries, which also resulted in an MoU aimed at encouraging private sector investments in capital markets.

Strong Leadership Ties
According to Chakravorty, the meetings over the past few days represent a significant achievement, further underscored by the strong rapport between the two nations' leaders. He said interaction betwwen Modi and Prabowo showed genuine mutual respect and equality.
“Normally, I see leaders address each other with formalities like ‘Your Excellency.’ But, they were addressing each other as brothers, which, I thought, showed affection and fondness for each other,” he remarked.
MoUs Signed
President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi witnessed the exchange of five key MoUs during the state meeting in New Delhi. These agreements include:
- Health Cooperation: Between Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
- Quality Assurance of Traditional Medicines: Between Indonesia's Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) and India’s Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy, under the Ministry of Ayush.
- Digital Development Collaboration: Between Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy and India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
- Maritime Safety and Security Cooperation: Between Indonesia’s Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) and the Indian Coast Guard.
- Cultural Exchange Program: A collaboration between the cultural ministries of both nations for the 2025-2028 period.
This latest collaboration builds on the historic and strategic partnership between the two nations, leveraging shared interests in health, technology, and maritime security while deepening cultural exchanges.
