Prabowo Highlights Longstanding Indonesia-India Ties at State Banquet
NEW DELHI, investortrust.id – President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto attended a state banquet hosted by President of India Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Indian Presidential Palace, on Saturday evening, Jan 25, 2025. The event underscored the close and enduring relationship between the two nations in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
In her opening remarks, President Murmu emphasized the importance of the 75-year-long bilateral relationship between Indonesia and India. She noted that Indonesia is one of India's closest friends, sharing a common vision as maritime populations and partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
She also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora in Indonesia, which have bolstered cultural and economic ties. President Murmu expressed optimism about expanding cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, digital technology, and maritime security.
Historical Ties and Strategic Partnerships
President Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and the honor of being the guest of honor at India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations. He highlighted the historical significance of the occasion, recalling how Indonesia's first President, Sukarno, was also an honored guest at India’s first Republic Day.
Prabowo said that was a great honor for him, noting that it felt like following in the footsteps of the Founding Father of Indonesia.
He lauded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in reducing poverty and improving citizens' welfare. Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating strategic cooperation between Indonesia and India in health, pharmaceuticals, education, maritime security, and digital technology.
Prabowo said Indonesia and India civilizations were deeply connected through ancient history, noting that Indonesian and Indian could trace a significant parts of their language back to Sanskrit.
The state dinner, attended by high-level delegations from both nations, symbolized the growing partnership between Indonesia and India. President Prabowo expressed hope that bilateral ties would continue to thrive and bring tangible benefits to both nations.
