Astra Controls 52% Market as January Sales Hit 66,446 Units

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — PT Astra International Tbk or ASII controlled 52% of Indonesia’s car market in January 2026 after selling 34,867 units out of total national wholesales of 66,446 units on Thursday, Feb 12, 2026 in Jakarta, underscoring its dominance as the country’s largest automotive group amid early-year market fluctuations. The data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries showed Astra maintained a majority share at the start of the year.
The company said the result reflected sustained consumer trust despite market dynamics. Astra pledged to continue supporting healthy and sustainable industry growth.
“Amid market dynamics and developments, Astra’s market share in January 2026 stood at 52%,” said Windy Riswantyo, Head of Corporate Communications at PT Astra International Tbk.
“We express our appreciation and gratitude for the trust continuously given by customers to Astra,” she added.

Toyota and Lexus contributed 20,127 units to Astra’s January sales, followed by Daihatsu with 12,513 units, Isuzu with 2,170 units, and UD Trucks with 57 units. In the low-cost green car segment, Astra sold 7,264 units, capturing 68% of that category.
Non-Astra brands recorded combined sales of 31,579 units, with Mitsubishi contributing 9,230 units and BYD including Denza accounting for 5,271 units.
In a separate development, PT Astra International Tbk was included in TIME Asia Pacific’s Best Companies 2026, ranking among 500 firms recognized by TIME magazine in collaboration with global research firm Statista. The assessment was based on employee satisfaction surveys, financial performance, and transparency in environmental, social, and governance practices.
Windy said Astra ranked first among Indonesian companies in employee satisfaction within the list. He added that the recognition coincided with Astra’s 69th anniversary in February 2026.
“On behalf of management, we hope this recognition motivates all Astra employees to continue contributing and strengthening competitiveness for Indonesia’s future,” Windy said.
