KUALA LUMPUR, Investortrust.id — Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, has urged stronger investment and trade collaboration among ASEAN members during the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN BAC) 2025 meetings in Malaysia, positioning Indonesia as a key driver of regional economic integration and sustainable development.
Anindya said the forum served as an opportunity for business leaders to exchange ideas on boosting cross-border trade and investments to enhance the region’s economic resilience.
On his official Instagram post on Monday, Oct 27, 2025, Anindya shared that over the weekend, he and the ASEAN BAC Indonesia delegation attended the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. Throughout the summit, he engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts from the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada, exploring ways to deepen inter-country economic partnerships across ASEAN.
One of the most notable sessions, he said, was a “fireside chat” with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. “With President Lula, whom I recently met in Jakarta, we talked about South–South cooperation reminiscent of the Bandung Conference. We discussed sustainability, green industry, and digital innovation in the AI era, and how to promote development that is inclusive—empowering not only large corporations but also micro, small, and medium enterprises,” Anindya said.
Beyond official dialogues with heads of state, Anindya also met with leading business figures to strengthen private-sector cooperation and connectivity. He emphasized that ASEAN BAC’s presence complemented government-to-government (G-to-G) diplomacy at the ASEAN Summit while aligning with private-sector efforts from other member countries. The ABIS 2025 conference, hosted by ASEAN BAC Malaysia, was deemed a success, with the leadership set to rotate to ASEAN BAC Philippines next year.
Following ABIS, Anindya continued his engagements at the ASEAN-Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) 2025, a joint initiative between Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kadin Indonesia, now in its third edition. The forum convened ASEAN and Indo-Pacific leaders alongside major business figures, including Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto representing President Prabowo Subianto, and ASEAN BAC Chair 2025 Tan Sri Nazir Razak.
The AIPF served as a platform to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between governments and businesses while advancing inclusivity and sustainability across key sectors such as energy, healthcare, and digital economy. During the event, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Kadin Indonesia to enhance research collaboration in regional development.
Anindya expressed hope that AIPF would evolve into a shared movement to build an open, peaceful, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region. At the end of the summit, he accompanied President Prabowo Subianto’s delegation as they departed Malaysia and confirmed his readiness to support the President at the upcoming APEC Summit in his capacity as Indonesia’s Chair of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).
He concluded by thanking all parties who contributed to the success of ASEAN BAC and AIPF 2025, reaffirming that partnership between government and business remains crucial in driving inclusive and sustainable growth across the region.
