JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The Ministry of Industry formally introduced the Green Industry Service Company, or Gisco, on Wednesday, Aug 20, 2025, presenting it as a pioneering concept to bridge Indonesia’s transformation into a green industry aligned with global standards.
Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said the platform was designed to connect industries with providers of clean technology, financing institutions, and the carbon market. “Gisco will serve as a bridge for collaboration. It is not only a service center but also a driver of the national green industry ecosystem linked to international standards,” he said in Jakarta.
Gisco, initiated by the ministry, functions as an integrated service hub offering technical guidance, resource efficiency assessments, carbon footprint calculations, transition roadmaps, and access to green financing.
Agus emphasized that the ministry is committed to achieving net zero emissions in the industrial sector by 2050, a decade ahead of schedule. The strategy includes energy efficiency programs, adoption of renewable energy, and deployment of low-carbon technologies.
He urged businesses to view decarbonization as an investment opportunity rather than a burden. “The transformation toward green industry is a long journey that demands vision, innovation, and collaboration. With energy efficiency, renewable energy, carbon capture utilization, and circular economy practices, Indonesia will maintain competitiveness while contributing to environmental preservation,” he said.
Strengthening Standards and Policies
Andi Rizaldi, Head of the Industrial Services Policy and Standardization Agency (BSKJI), said the transition to green industry must integrate clean technology, energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, and circular economy models into a cohesive ecosystem.
“By building such an ecosystem, the shift to low-carbon industry not only strengthens global competitiveness but also creates opportunities for sustainable investment and innovation in the national economy,” Andi said.
He explained that the ministry is preparing policy reinforcements to ensure a measurable transition. These include stronger Green Industry Standards (SIH) for priority sectors, with sharper indicators on energy efficiency, recycled raw materials, and greenhouse gas intensity limits.
The ministry is also developing a digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) system and an industrial Emission Trading System (ETS), enabling companies to monetize surplus emission reductions.
Andi noted that Gisco will evolve into a central hub for green financing solutions, providing companies with access to domestic and international funding schemes. He expressed confidence that these measures would not only help achieve net zero in 2050 but also establish green industry as Indonesia’s new source of global competitiveness.
