Kadin Retreat Seeks to Forge a New Breed of ‘Militant’ Entrepreneurs

JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) has launched its 2025 Retreat at the Indonesian Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, with a mission to cultivate “militant” entrepreneurs committed to national economic resilience.
Speaking before departure from Jakarta’s Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Friday, Aug 8, 2025, Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie said the retreat is not about military optics or flying in Hercules aircraft, but rather about shaping business leaders who embody the spirit of economic warriors.
“The point isn’t the Hercules plane or military drills, but about how Indonesia can nurture fighters—economic warriors,” Anindya said during a send-off ceremony at Squadron 17.
He emphasized that the retreat aims to deepen cooperation among entrepreneurs to bolster economic security, anchored by four flagship social initiatives labeled “quick wins.”
In his address, Anindya highlighted the first program: free nutritious meals (Makan Bergizi Gotong Royong), which now operates through 256 service units across 25 provinces.
The second initiative is free health screenings (Pemeriksaan Kesehatan Gotong Royong), followed by a workforce development effort focused on training and empowering local and migrant labor forces.
The final pillar is a push for livable and affordable housing, beginning with community-driven renovation efforts. “And lastly, decent and affordable homes. We’re starting with renovations,” he said.
After receiving a briefing from Deputy Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, the Kadin delegation is scheduled to meet President Prabowo Subianto later that afternoon at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor.
“We’ve received confirmation. God willing, we will be welcomed by our eighth President, Mr. Prabowo, at 3 PM,” Anindya said.
Commander of Halim Air Base Air Vice Marshal Erwin Sugiandi praised Kadin’s initiative, saying the retreat symbolizes a meaningful transformation of entrepreneurial purpose.
“We are proud to see so many militant and dedicated entrepreneurs. Perhaps you’re used to flying commercial—but flying on a Hercules, that’s extraordinary,” Erwin remarked.
