Mayapada Healthcare Partners with India’s Apollo Hospitals to Curb Medical Tourism
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – PT Sejahteraraya Anugrahjaya Tbk, or SRAJ, operating as Mayapada Healthcare, has strengthened its collaboration with Apollo Hospitals of India to enhance Indonesia’s healthcare sector and reduce the number of Indonesians seeking medical treatment abroad.
This partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed by Jonathan Tahir, Chairman & Group CEO of Mayapada Healthcare, and Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, in New Delhi, India, on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Indonesia’s Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin.
The event was part of a broader agenda during Indonesia’s state visit to India, which included bilateral meetings between President Prabowo Subianto and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, celebrations for India’s 76th Republic Day, and the Indonesia-India CEO Forum hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The agreement between Mayapada Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals underscores the role of private sector collaboration in advancing healthcare services in both nations, aligning with a strategic cooperation framework established between Indonesia’s Ministry of Health and India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Elevating Indonesia’s Healthcare Standards
Jonathan Tahir emphasized that this collaboration aligns with Mayapada Healthcare’s vision of elevating healthcare standards in Indonesia by introducing international-level medical services to the local population.
“Through our partnership with Apollo Hospitals, a leading global healthcare provider, Mayapada Healthcare is not only enhancing its operational capabilities but also expanding patient access to advanced treatments, innovative medical technology, and expert healthcare professionals,” Tahir stated in a press release on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2025.
The initiative aligns with the Indonesian government’s strategy to deepen healthcare cooperation with India to bolster the domestic medical sector. By collaborating with Apollo Hospitals, Mayapada Healthcare aims to play a pivotal role in reducing medical tourism by offering high-quality healthcare within Indonesia.
Focus on Technology and Knowledge Exchange
Building upon their cooperation, which began in 2023, Mayapada Healthcare and Apollo Hospitals are focusing on implementing cutting-edge medical innovations at the soon-to-be-established Mayapada Apollo Batam International Hospital (MABIH). The collaboration will also include advancements in tele-radiology, electronic intensive care units (E-ICU), artificial intelligence-driven diagnostics, and knowledge exchange programs for medical professionals.
Sangita Reddy highlighted Apollo Hospitals’ commitment to fostering global healthcare innovation, stating, “By partnering with Mayapada Healthcare, we aim to establish a strong foundation for delivering world-class medical services and introducing cutting-edge healthcare solutions in Indonesia.”
Apollo Hospitals’ Founder and Chairman, Prathap C.
