President Prabowo Subianto Congratulates Kadin on Unity Conference, Emphasizes Private Sector Role in Infrastructure Development
JAKARTA, investortrust.id – President Prabowo Subianto has commended the successful completion of the National Consolidation Conference of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or Kadin, held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Jakarta on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
The conference formalized the appointment of Anindya Bakrie as Chairman of Kadin Indonesia and Arsjad Rasjid as Chairman of Kadin’s Advisory Council.
Speaking at the event, President Prabowo praised the unity demonstrated by Kadin members, emphasizing the importance of harmony and cooperation among all national stakeholders.
“I extend my congratulations to Kadin for successfully organizing today’s consolidation conference. This is exactly what we hope for—every vital element in our nation maintaining unity, harmony, and solidarity,” Prabowo said in his address at the Ritz-Carlton.
President Prabowo expressed his gratitude to Kadin leaders, including Honorary Council Chairman Rosan P. Roeslani, Chairman Anindya Bakrie, and Advisory Council Chairman Arsjad Rasjid, for their efforts in bringing the organization together. He underscored that differences and competition within a group are natural but stressed that unity is critical for addressing the nation’s challenges.
“Leaders must stand united. Who takes the lead—first, second, or third—doesn’t matter. Roles can rotate,” Prabowo said, injecting a lighthearted tone.
Private Sector’s Role in Infrastructure Development
President Prabowo reiterated Kadin’s pivotal role in driving the nation’s economy and announced a significant shift in Indonesia’s approach to infrastructure development. He pledged to increase private sector involvement, viewing it as more efficient, innovative, and experienced.
“I want to grant a greater role to the private sector,” Prabowo stated, countering claims that his administration is halting infrastructure projects. Instead, he clarified that the government is modifying its strategy to prioritize core infrastructure while delegating commercially viable projects to private entities.
“Toll roads, ports, airports—I’ll leave them to the private sector. Let the private sector take charge,” he said.
The president emphasized that the government would focus on critical infrastructure projects directly impacting public welfare, leaving other developments to private companies.
“Private enterprises must grow, and they should take on these projects,” he added.
The conference highlighted the strategic partnership between Kadin and the government. Prabowo encouraged the business community to actively support his administration’s programs, including key initiatives such as the Free Nutritious Meals program and the construction of three million affordable homes.
“This is a collaborative effort. Kadin is a large vessel, and together, we will ensure that it fulfills its mission,” Prabowo concluded.
The event underscored the government’s commitment to fostering public-private collaboration to accelerate national development while leveraging Kadin’s influence to unify the business community in advancing Indonesia’s economic ambitions.
