Prabowo Engages Dozens of Media Editors in Hambalang, Tackles Current Issues
BOGOR, investortrust.id - President Prabowo Subianto hosts a six-hour discussion with dozens of media editors and senior press figures at his residence in Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, aiming to align perspectives on pressing national issues and bolster the media’s role in delivering credible information. This gathering marks a significant step in strengthening government-press collaboration.
The event kicked off with a communal lunch, followed by an in-depth exchange in the library of Prabowo’s residence. “Praise be, today I had the chance to reconnect with editors and senior media figures here at Padepokan Garuda Yaksa,” Prabowo said. He noted it was the first such meeting in nearly 20 months, since June 18, 2023.
“We met again in a warm, collegial atmosphere, discussing strategic policies and issues where the media serves as a vital conduit for reliable information to the public,” he added, expressing hope that it would “enhance synergy and the media’s contribution to nation-building.”
The dialogue covered a spectrum of current topics, from budget restructuring to flagship programs like free nutritious meals. Retno Pinasti, editor-in-chief of SCTV and Indosiar and chair of the Editors’ Forum, emphasized the value of two-way communication.
“This smooth exchange helps clear up misunderstandings—not just with the media but amid the recent flood of confusion and misinterpretations,” she said. Irfan Junaedi, news director at LKBN Antara, gained clarity on policy motivations.
“We got the big picture behind these initiatives—like why budget efficiency and reconstruction are priorities. There’s a grand plan to safeguard state finances, and the free meals program fits into that vision,” remarked, describing the insights as “rich and valuable” for journalists.
Yura Syahrul, editor-in-chief of Katadata, praised Prabowo’s transparency. “He explained strategic policies comprehensively and openly, addressing questions on current issues head-on,” she said.
The session, which wrapped up with dinner and a group photo, bridged a gap between government intent and public perception, especially as Prabowo prepares to launch initiatives like Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara (BPI Danantara) on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, and navigates trade war challenges with CEPA negotiations.
For media leaders, the meeting offered a rare window into Jakarta’s policy engine, reinforcing their role in shaping informed discourse amid a dynamic national and global landscape.
