JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said the government will soon decide the fate of the Martabe gold mine on Friday, Feb 13, 2026 in Jakarta after a review ordered by President Prabowo Subianto, with the permit set to be restored to PT Agincourt Resources if no significant violations are found, a move expected to clarify regulatory certainty in Indonesia’s mining sector.
“If the review does not find any significant violation, it will certainly be returned to the owner,” Bahlil said at Wisma Danantara. He added that the evaluation was still ongoing and had not yet moved to the next administrative stage.
The government was examining two key aspects, namely the mining business license or contract of work and the environmental permit related to the environmental impact assessment. The review was conducted in coordination with the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force and Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.

“Give us one to two days. Once it is clear, we will announce it. If there is a problem, there must be sanctions. But if there is no problem, we should not impose sanctions on those who do not deserve them,” Bahlil said.
President Prabowo had instructed Bahlil to reexamine operations at the Martabe mine in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra during a limited cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Feb 11, 2026. The review aimed to ensure that mining activities complied fully with regulations.
PT Agincourt Resources is a subsidiary of PT United Tractors Tbk or UNTR, which in turn is part of PT Astra International Tbk or ASII. Through PT Danusa Tambang Nusantara, UNTR controls 95% of Agincourt, while the remaining 5% is held by a regional government-owned enterprise.
Agincourt employs nearly 3,800 workers, with about 80% recruited locally from Sibolga and South Tapanuli. The government said the final decision, expected next week, would balance regulatory enforcement with investment certainty.
