JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The government has strengthened global collaboration by developing the Sapa UMKM platform on Thursday, Feb 5, 2026 in Jakarta to build a nationally integrated digital ecosystem for micro, small, and medium enterprises as Indonesia expands open network cooperation, a move expected to improve policy precision and MSME competitiveness. The initiative was highlighted during the Indonesia Open Network 2026 event as part of broader efforts to unify data, financing, and market access for businesses.
The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises said the program reflected intensified cross stakeholder cooperation to accelerate digital transformation among MSMEs. The development of Sapa UMKM was presented as a strategic pillar in aligning government programs with private sector and technology partners.
Minister for MSMEs Maman Abdurrahman said the Indonesia Open Network event served as a positive milestone to strengthen collaboration between the ministry, the Indonesian Employers Association, and the digital ecosystem. He said the primary objective was to integrate the One Data system currently being built through Sapa UMKM.
"For me, this event is a very positive ceremony in building collaboration between the Ministry of MSMEs, our colleagues at Apindo, and the Indonesia Open Network. The main target is to integrate the One Data technology system that we are currently developing through Sapa UMKM," Maman said.
Maman explained that Sapa UMKM was designed as an integrated system or super application that would serve as a single gathering platform for all MSMEs across Indonesia. The platform was expected to provide services ranging from access to financing and education to market access and productivity support.
"In Sapa UMKM there will be financing services, access to education, access to markets, and it will also serve as a space for sharing and socializing various government programs. This will become the national activity hub for MSMEs," he said.
He added that the development of Sapa UMKM would be carried out in collaboration with partners within the Indonesia Open Network. Maman noted that India had previously succeeded in building a similar system, making the collaborative model relevant for Indonesia.
"In India, they built a system with the same concept and it has proven successful for micro, small, and medium enterprises. I think this can become a very positive collaboration among all of us," Maman said.
By design, Sapa UMKM will function as a one stop digital platform linking all strategic MSME programs with the national ecosystem. It will integrate MSME data across ministries, government agencies, regional administrations, and ecosystem partners.
Indonesia currently has data on around 30 million MSMEs, but much of it remains static and was collected one to three years ago. The key challenge ahead is transforming this static data into dynamic data that reflects real time MSME activity and development.
"That is why Sapa UMKM must be built. We want MSME data that is alive, dynamic, and able to serve as a more precise basis for policymaking," Maman said.
Maman said Sapa UMKM together with the Indonesia Open Network would form a critical foundation for building an inclusive, sovereign, and sustainable national MSME ecosystem. Through cross sector collaboration, Indonesian MSMEs are expected to grow healthier, stronger, and more competitive globally.
