JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — PT Tentso Kolaborasi Indonesia supports Indonesia’s electric vehicle industrial push by backing the first incoming equipment ceremony at PT Contemporary Amperex Technology Indonesia Battery or CATIB on Monday, Feb 2, 2026 in Karawang, West Java, a move seen as accelerating the development of an integrated EV battery ecosystem.
The event marked the first delivery of key assembly equipment for electric vehicle batteries at CATIB’s production facility in the Artha Industrial Hills complex in East Karawang and signaled tangible progress in Indonesia’s downstream battery ambitions.
Tentso Site Manager Randy Bimantara said the company carried out end-to-end preparations to ensure the smooth execution of the strategic event, reflecting its commitment to supporting nationally significant industrial projects.
“Tentso prepared around 140 supporting items, ranging from ceremonial equipment to core installations within the production area,” Randy said in an official statement on Monday.
The ceremony was also accompanied by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between MIND ID, PT Indonesia Battery Industry, and Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited or CATL. The agreement covers research and development cooperation in battery products and renewable energy.
The collaboration is designed to strengthen Indonesia’s national EV industry ecosystem and deepen technological capabilities across the battery value chain, from materials to advanced cell technology.
CATIB itself is a strategic joint venture involving China-based CATL, Indonesia Battery Corporation, and PT Antam Tbk. The project aims to build a fully integrated electric vehicle battery industry in Indonesia, spanning upstream raw materials to downstream manufacturing.
By anchoring battery production domestically, the CATIB project is expected to enhance Indonesia’s position in the global EV supply chain while supporting the government’s broader industrial downstreaming and energy transition agenda.
