JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, or Kadin, has stressed the importance of strengthening strategic cooperation with Switzerland following the implementation of the Indonesia–European Free Trade Association Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.
Bernardino M Vega, Vice Chairman for International Relations of Kadin Indonesia, said the Swiss-Indonesian Business Networking forum, attended by Swiss Vice President Guy Parmelin, has opened broader opportunities for both nations to deepen collaboration in priority sectors ranging from sustainable development to advanced manufacturing.
“Collaboration between Switzerland and Indonesia builds on the CEPA and represents an initiative to further advance existing sectors to the next level,” Bernardino told reporters on the sidelines of the forum in Jakarta on Tuesday, Sept 30, 2025.
He noted that discussions covered sustainable development, green economy, and advanced manufacturing, with Switzerland showing strong interest in advanced manufacturing investments as well as education and vocational training.
However, Bernardino acknowledged that technical barriers remain in the implementation of the free trade agreement. “In execution, there are still processes that should be simplified,” he said.
He also emphasized that global trade shifts and evolving geo-economic dynamics will shape future relations between the two countries. Still, he remained optimistic that bilateral trade will continue to expand. “Our collaboration must move into the next phase, becoming more integrated and imaginative. We must go beyond what we have been doing and identify new areas to pursue together,” he added.

At the same event, Kadin Indonesia reinforced that Indonesia-Switzerland ties go beyond trade, serving as a platform for shared welfare and innovation.
Dharsono Hartono, Vice Chairman for Environmental Affairs of Kadin Indonesia, said Indonesia is in a strong position with solid economic growth and a firm commitment to achieving net zero emissions (NZE) by 2060 or sooner.
“President Prabowo’s cabinet has prioritized sustainability. We have launched the Net Zero Hub to help companies prepare for a low-carbon future, from training to emissions reporting, and to coordinate green transition programs,” Dharsono said at the 4th Annual Meeting of the Swiss-Indonesian Trade and Sustainability Council in Jakarta on Sept 30, 2025.
He cited Kadin’s cooperation with Adidas and the national steel industry to decarbonize supply chains as an example of collective efforts with measurable impact. “We see shared values between Switzerland and Indonesia, particularly around welfare and innovation,” he said.
Dharsono proposed several practical steps for collaboration, including developing net zero supply chains involving Swiss firms, cross-border green investments, and establishing a green skills academy that combines Swiss technology with Indonesia’s industrial network.
He also pointed to Indonesia’s agricultural and marine products such as coffee, cocoa, and seafood as potential global green flagships that demonstrate the capacity of both nations to deliver prosperity while protecting the environment.
“Each action must be concrete, visible, and impactful. Switzerland brings innovation and finance, while Indonesia offers skills and resources. Together, we can realize sustainable economic growth,” Dharsono concluded.
