JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry has declared that Indonesia is now in a strategic position within the global decarbonization agenda.
Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Anindya Novyan Bakrie emphasized that the momentum should be used by businesses to accelerate energy transition and strengthen the green economy.
“During Climate Week in New York, Indonesia has emerged as a magnet, a sort of Mecca of decarbonization,” Anindya said at the Focus Group Discussion on Global Standard Education Policy and the 57th anniversary celebration of the chamber in Jakarta on Wednesday, Sept 24, 2025.
Anindya explained that the international spotlight on Indonesia during Climate Week underscored the country’s vast potential in transitioning toward clean energy. He stressed that Indonesian companies must seize this opportunity seriously.
Looking ahead, Anindya underlined the crucial role of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, in boosting productivity, competitiveness, and efficiency in green industries.
“We are also focusing on technology, first and foremost artificial intelligence, and how its applications can help productivity, competitiveness, and ultimately support the green industry,” he said.

Previously, Anindya underscored Indonesia’s role in tackling global challenges, ranging from food security and energy security to climate change. He conveyed this message after attending a Private CEO Roundtable on Strategic Investment, Economic Diplomacy, and Impact-Driven Partnerships at the Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations in New York on Monday, Sept 22, 2025.
At that forum, Anindya pointed out Indonesia’s rare position as a country with peace and stability—qualities that give it a comparative advantage in contributing to global solutions.
“Indonesia is a place of peace and stability, which is rare for many cities and regions worldwide. With these conditions, food security can thrive, not only for Indonesia but also for the world,” Anindya said.
He also noted that Indonesia could become a global energy hub, given its rich mineral resources.
“In terms of energy security, with the vast range of minerals we have, we can also position ourselves as a global center of energy,” he explained.
From an environmental perspective, Anindya emphasized Indonesia’s critical role in sustaining global climate balance, with its extensive forests, mangrove ecosystems, and coral reefs serving as natural assets of global importance.
“This is the appeal, and it is why we at the chamber are being invited to contribute on all these fronts,” he concluded.
