NEW YORK, investortrust.id — President Prabowo Subianto has urged the world to take decisive steps to end the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, reaffirming Indonesia’s unwavering commitment to a two-state solution as the only viable path toward lasting peace.
Speaking at the High-Level International Conference on the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Monday, Sept 22, 2025, Prabowo expressed deep concern over the ongoing crisis.
He began his remarks by acknowledging the leadership of France and Saudi Arabia in convening the summit, which he described as a critical platform for advancing a fair and peaceful resolution to the conflict.
“Thousands of innocent lives, many of them women and children, have been lost. Starvation is spreading. A humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding before our eyes. We condemn all acts of violence against innocent civilians,” Prabowo said.
The President stressed that the international community has a historical responsibility not only to the people of Palestine but also to Israel and to the credibility of the United Nations itself. He underscored that Indonesia remains firmly committed to the two-state solution.
“Indonesia reiterates its commitment to the two-state solution as the only path to peace. We must ensure Palestinian statehood, and Indonesia also declares that once Israel recognizes Palestine’s independence and sovereignty, Indonesia will in turn recognize the State of Israel and support all guarantees for its security,” he affirmed.
Prabowo welcomed the New York Declaration, calling it a milestone toward a just and peaceful resolution. He emphasized that state recognition must carry real meaning by ensuring genuine peace for all parties.
He praised the decisions of several major countries—including France, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Portugal—to recognize Palestine, calling their actions steps taken on the right side of history.
“Recognition of Palestine is the right step, on the right side of history. For those who have not yet acted, let us remind them that history does not stand still,” he stated.
The President insisted that halting the war in Gaza must be the international community’s top priority. Indonesia, he pledged, is ready to take an active role, including deploying peacekeeping troops under a UN mandate.
“We must overcome hatred and fear. We must overcome suspicion. Humanity needs peace. We are ready to take part in this journey toward peace, and we are prepared to provide peacekeepers,” he declared.
Prabowo concluded his speech with an urgent appeal: “Peace. Peace now. Peace immediately. We need peace.”
