JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — Danantara Indonesia CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani says the planned merger of Pertamina’s airline subsidiary Pelita Air Service into flag carrier Garuda Indonesia has not yet been finalized and remains under review.
Rosan confirmed on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, that the sovereign wealth fund was still evaluating the proposal. “Yes, everything is still under review,” he told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta.
He explained that the study focused on how the corporate action could improve efficiency and productivity across both airlines. “The key point is to make operations more efficient, enhance productivity, and optimize existing assets, from flight hours to spare parts and other resources. Everything is still being evaluated,” Rosan said.
Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri previously emphasized that the state-owned energy company would concentrate on its core businesses of oil, gas, and renewable energy.
As part of this strategy, the company intends to divest non-core subsidiaries, including Pelita Air Service, as well as its units in insurance, healthcare, hospitality, and Patra Jasa, which operates outside the oil and gas sector.
Simon said Pertamina had already coordinated with the sovereign wealth fund Badan Pengelola Investasi (BPI) Danantara regarding the spin-off. The fund has prepared a roadmap to manage the transition of Pertamina’s subsidiaries.
“For several businesses, we will proceed with spin-offs, and under Danantara’s coordination, we may consolidate them by clustering with similar companies,” Simon told members of the House of Representatives Commission VI on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025.
