JAKARTA, Investortrust.id — PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) has installed veteran telecommunications engineer Nanang Hendarno as its new President Director, moving immediately to accelerate group-wide restructuring under the direct guidance of the government’s newly established sovereign wealth manager.
Hendarno takes the helm of Southeast Asia’s largest telecommunications firm from Dian Siswarini following approval at an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders (EGMS) held at The Telkom Hub in Jakarta on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026.
As regional telecom operators battle stagnant legacy mobile revenue, Telkom is aggressively decoupling its infrastructure assets from commercial retail services. By placing an engineering technocrat at the helm and transferring its physical fiber footprint to an independent wholesale unit, the state champion is shifting from an operating holding company into a lean strategic investment group. Accelerating this overhaul aligns directly with Danantara’s overarching push to eliminate redundant operational layers, unlock idle balance-sheet value, and monetize captive public utility assets.
Accelerating Streamlining Under Danantara
Speaking during a press conference following the shareholder meeting, Hendarno underscored that rapid corporate simplification will serve as his administration's top operational priority.
The corporate acceleration directly supports Telkom’s long-term transformation blueprint, known as the TLKM30 strategy, which is anchored around operational excellence, streamlining, value unlocking, and operating model evolution.
"Most importantly, in accordance with the instructions and directions from the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), we must accelerate this streamlining," Hendarno said on Wednesday.
Hendarno added that the executive board will deploy all available resources to meet state-mandated benchmarks ahead of schedule.
"We will make every possible effort to meet the targets set by Danantara and the government so that we can conclude this streamlining this year and potentially continue into next year," Hendarno explained.
A Seasoned Technical Veteran
The incoming chief executive brings extensive technical and operational tenure within Telkom’s domestic and global operations.
Hendarno served as Telkom’s Network Director beginning in May 2025, having previously led PT Infrastruktur Telekomunikasi Indonesia as Chief Executive Officer from October 2022 to May 2025.
Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Technology Officer at international connectivity vehicle PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) from 2016 to 2022, after heading Telkom’s Service Operation Division between 2015 and 2016.
He holds an undergraduate engineering degree from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya earned in 1991, followed by a Master of Philosophy in Space Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands in 1997.
Restructuring the Boardroom
Shareholders simultaneously ratified wider changes across Telkom’s directorship to sharpen its digital enterprise capabilities.
Karim Siregar was named IT Digital Director, taking over the portfolio from Faizal Rochmad Djoemadi.
Radita Ali Putra was appointed Director of Wholesale & International Service, succeeding Budi Satria Dharma Purba, who was reassigned to take over Hendarno’s former role as Director of Network.
Unlocking Rp 49.9 Trillion in Fiber Assets
The leadership change coincides with a decisive step in the group's infrastructure carve-out, with voting shareholders granting clearance for the Phase 2 spin-off of Telkom’s Wholesale Fiber Connectivity segment.
The assets will transfer directly into PT Telkom Infrastruktur Indonesia (TIF), operating commercially under the InfraNexia brand, in which Telkom maintains a direct 99.99% controlling interest.
The enterprise value of the second-phase separation transaction reaches Rp 49.9 trillion ($3.14 billion), marking a cornerstone step in establishing a dedicated national digital infrastructure provider.
"This initiative represents the execution of Telkom’s third strategic pillar under TLKM30—unlocking value—to monetize high-value assets and optimize management to generate greater enterprise value and growth opportunities via InfraNexia," Hendarno told reporters.
Following the transaction, InfraNexia officially manages more than 90% of Telkom Group’s comprehensive network infrastructure assets across the Indonesian archipelago.
Hendarno pointed out that placing the country's fiber backbone into an independent entity allows external operators to lease dark fiber and transmission bandwidth, improving national capital efficiency through open infrastructure sharing.
"With more than 90% of Telkom’s network infrastructure assets now managed by InfraNexia, we see substantial opportunities to lift asset utilization, broaden strategic infrastructure sharing, and open access for industry participants to accelerate digital connectivity nationwide," Hendarno noted.
The reorganization formally transitions Telkom from a direct operating company toward a strategic holding architecture, allowing operational subsidiaries to execute independently while the listed parent company sharpens governance, capital allocation, and group-wide synergies.
